Business support services are essentially organisations that have been created in order to provide help to businesses. In many cases these organisations will be publically funded organisations and they will be full of trained professionals that can provide advice and guidance on numerous different business related matters. In the majority of cases the business support services will be used by small and medium enterprises. There are many different reasons why the services may be used; for example it may just be a general query or it may be a major issue regarding the future of a business. As well as providing advice to established businesses the services also provide advice to potential start ups.

Most commonly the business support services will provide advice on getting finance or the different sources of finance that are available. The employees will have a wealth of knowledge on how an organisation can raise finance in order to support their business. In most cases the employees at business support services will have run their own business or they may have been involved in the business world for many years. One major plus about public organisations that offer business support services is that they are free and this is one major plus for small and medium enterprises.

The services are excellent for gaining advice on many different issues and the employees at business support services should be used as a good source of advice. Whilst the service does not provide funding directly it is able to recommend the best option for financing. As well as advice regarding funding the services can also provide excellent advice on growing a business. Getting bigger as a business is often a very difficult matter and therefore the advice provided by the business support services may be of great use.

Business support services are sometimes used by private large organisations but this is usually in the form of consultancy. Large businesses will pay consultants for advice and help on numerous different matters. The costs of consultants are usually exceptionally high and this is one of the main reasons that smaller businesses do not use them. The number of public organisations offering business support services has reduced dramatically in recent years and this is likely to continue. Whilst the number of services has reduced dramatically there are still some business support services available in order to help the small and medium enterprises located throughout the UK.
